The Wits Law Clinic invited Mr Mphela to speak to the final year law students on the legal profession, its challenges and rewards. He gave the final lecture of the year for Practical Legal Studies final year students at the law clinic.
His lecture focused on inspiring students, particularly those from marginalised communities. This is what Mpho Mogowe had to say, “Thank you for an insightful presentation, it gives us hope, particularly us black law students to see a successful black attorney despite the inherent challenges in the legal profession”.
Another final year student had this to say, “You are truly an inspiration and I promise to live by your words “Don’t write yourself off before you even start” despite the background I’m from” said Themba Nyembe.
It is important for people from marginalized communities to be inspired by successful people who look like them.
