Mandela Day 2022 - Ngwana House, Polokwane

Ngwana House is based in Fauna Park Polokwane.

The house serves as a refuge for some of society’s most vulnerable babies between the ages of 0 and 24 months. These precious little souls are orphaned, abandoned, or given up for adoption by mothers who cannot care for them. The house has become a home to 26 children.

Looking after and taking care of babies is not an easy task, but this is the primary function of the Ngwana House in Fauna Park. Ngwana means ‘child’ and the caretakers simply love the children they take care of.

Mphela & Associates Polokwane visited the Ngwana House on Mandela day 2022

We donated the following baby essentials:

• ⋅ Diapers ( different sizes from new-born size to size 6)
• ⋅ Bath soaps
• ⋅ Baby wet wipes
• ⋅ Petroleum jelly
• ⋅ Baby foods ( purity cream of maize)

We were taken on a tour of the house, but unfortunately could not engage with the babies due to the majority of them being sick with flu. The staff engaged with us about their ups as well as their downs and also the challenges they face daily.

We are proud and happy that we had the opportunity to give back to the community.
