Prebashnie Moonsamie obtained her LLB degree from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, she was admitted as an Attorney in October 2008 and obtained Right of Appearance in the High Court in 2009. She began her legal career when she commenced her Articles of Clerkship in 2006 at Iqbal Mahomed Attorneys in Pretoria. She was then appointed as a Litigation Attorney post admission at the same firm where she stayed until 2012. In 2012 she served a short stint in the corporate arena working for a Property Management Company as a Legal Advisor before returning to her passion of Litigation in 2013.
She has extensive experience in High and Magistrate court litigation, specialising in personal injury claims with a focus on motor vehicle accidents and medical negligence. She is also experienced in debt collection, family law and commercial litigation. She has gained experience in vetting Tender Applications when her services were utilised by an Auditing firm for two Legal Panel Tender Bids.
Prior to joining Mphela and Associates, she served as the Head of Litigation at Iqbal Mahomed Attorneys, where she dealt with the management of Attorneys in the team, as well as the individual task of dealing with all high profile, high risk and high value matters. She has attempted to impart her knowledge and expertise by serving as a Principal to Candidate Attorneys with teaching and mentorship.
Prebashnie also obtained the following certificates, Advanced Certificate in Business Rescue Practice (UNISA), certificates in Consumer Protection Act & Labour Practice (LEAD), certificates in Conveyancing Practice and Notary Practice and in Writing documents for Litigation.
Prebashnie represented the Law Society of the Northern Provinces over a period of 4 years with interdict, suspension and removal Applications of unprofessional, dishonourable or unworthy Attorneys. The achievement of representing the body that currently governs the profession is held by only a few in the Province. Having said that, she holds the privilege being an Attorney, and what it entails in the highest regard, knowing all too well the consequences of the digression.
She has come from humble beginnings having lost her father as a result of a road accident when she was 8. Being a victim herself of an under settlement of her loss of support claim, she vowed to always empower and facilitate fair and reasonable compensation to those deserving.
Most important to her life is God, family, friends, her rewarding work and last but not least, her dog. Prebashnie hopes that one day she will be an inspiration to young girls and women to never give up in the face of adversity. She lives by the motto, LOVE ALL, SERVE ALL.
She joined our team at Mphela and Associates in May 2018 as a Litigation Attorney.
